09-02-2000 New mention on the press and new award!!!!!!

Musicnet (the most important music magazine on the internet in Portugal) referred to Lads as a huge promise for the portuguese pop in the future... this magazine has a new netpage completly dedicated to the band here. You can read almost the entire article on the press page. And Rockluso (a radio program) awarded Lads and "Better left unsaid..." as the best independent studio work of 99... Congrats!!!!!!!

30-01-2000 Tv show next Tuesday!!!

Lads will be on RTP1, next Tuesday morning, on the long waited program "Praça da Alegria". Lads will be performing "Attic" and "This is the life". The show will start at 10 o'clock in the morning and it will and at about half past twelve. Lets wait and watch...

18-01-2000 What a day!!!!!!

Yesterday was a long long day to our favourite band... and what a day!!!!! It started with a fabulous article where the band is considered a great song maker and even the Lads homepage was mentioned as worth a visit!!!! WE ARE VERY PROUD!!!!! The article was written by Miguel Miranda in "O Comércio do Porto", the whole article is available on the press page. Then, during the whole afternoon, the band recorded the TV program : "Praça da Alegria", where the band played "Attic" and "This is the life", it all happened in a very good mood and some photos are available on the Tourgallery page. After this the band went to Matosinhos to prepare the night gig in Fnac store in Nortshopping. It was filled with people, and the Lads'fans said it was the best concert ever of the band. In fact, the band said it was going to be their last for a long time giving no further explanations to this. Maybe on the next weekend radio program (Radio Clube de Penafiel 91.8FM , next Saturday night the 22nd at about 23h) the band will explain this sad news.
This was the setlist:
Sunflower (with Ricardo on KORG, it was sang and played in a very emotional way)
Melatonine (with Pedro playing on the original ROLAND keyboards of "Better left Unsaid...")
Attic (powerful)
Too many seconds (slight lyric change on the end of each chorus...still as always glamorous)
This is the life (sang with guts, played with nerv)
Waiting (Ricardo assumed this song to be the best Lads song ever and so as the last time to be played live at least for a long time it would be played with emotion...)
Blue Blue Blue (Ricardo started by saying that if anyone wants to understand what the band is saying, they should start by this one... Pedro introduced some new sounds from the Korg which revealed a new dimension to the song)
Panic in the park / Boy (These two songs finished the concert, they were played powerfully and Rui was superb with drumming (as always). Luís fooled around with the bass during Panic in the Park, turning it more delicious... meanwhile Paulo gave a different ending to boy as well as he did to Blue Blue Blue... Boy ended with Ricardo stabbing himself with the micro...)

14-01-2000 Delayed again...

Unfortunately due to an accident the Tv program was delayed... but the recordings will be done next Monday afternoon on the RTP studios in Gaia! The program will be on air two weeks later. The Lads homepage will announce it as soon as possible... see you next Monday in Fnac store for yet another Lads concert! Meanwhile Lads have given another interview to a radio station this time RCP (Radio Clube de Penafiel). This program was recorded last night and will be on air the 22nd January at 23h! The program name is Gritos quase nocturnos and the interviewer is Artur Silva.

06-01-2000 Lads on TV program!

Next Tuesday Morning, Lads will be part of the morning show in RTP, the portuguese public television: Praça da Alegria. The 10th of January will be then a great time for all the Lads fans and it is said they will play at least two songs... Great news!!!!

28-12-99 Concert news!!!!

Next 17th of January Lads will be at FNAC Nortshopping, for another concert... finally, and after some fear of another long term stop, the band seems to be ready to tour... next news soon...

03-12-99 New release and re-release...

The song "This is the Life" was released by a portuguese label, called "Som Sónico", in a compilation of several new portuguese pop bands. The compilation name is "Keep the noise" and is available by post to:

The price is 1500$, or 7,5 euros.
For the same amount, the first Lads CD is also available from the same Label. This re-release is exactly the same as the first one but doesn't include the lyrics.
The expected tour is yet to be presented and there are still some confusion towards the different news arriving here, but one of the rumours is that the new tour will start in January... lets wait and see...

07-11-99 Radio interview tonight!

There will be a radio interview tonight, at 97.5 FM , Radio Universitária do Minho! The band will be explaning the cancelling of the tour and news about another!It will be about 8 o'clock.

02-11-99 Tour cancelled for the time being......

Due to some unknown problems the tour was cancelled but it is said to be rescheduled. Places like FNAC in Norteshopping or Sarau in ST Tirso were cancelled but we can assure the Lads fans they will come back... Lets wait and see...

15-10-99 Great cosy start!!!

The Unsaid Fall Tour started in an cosy and close concert. The band played the songs from the last album, and finally the long expected "Blue, Blue, Blue", which revealed to be an excellent one!!! Lazuli bar was filled with screaming Lads fans, that sang the whole reportoire along with the band creating an excellent intimist ambience. A new tour date is available : 10th of December in Santo Tirso, the spot is called Sarau!! Keep up with the news!

25-09-99 Lads Unsaid Fall Tour ready to start!!!!

After a quick interview on a radio program in Radio Lidador (efe erre a) on the last 11th September, the band are preparing a new tour, starting the next 9th October. The first gig of the Lads Unsaid Tour is to be held in Lazuli Bar in Leça da Palmeira, near Oporto!!!! The following tour dates will soon be known.

12-08-99 Lads and the press...

As the band has appeared several times in the portuguese press a new netpage has been created, in order to keep up the fans with what has been said about Lads... just follow this link. Meanwhile and after that brilliant interview in the most important portuguese daily newspaper: Jornal de Notícias, and an interview in Rockluso, a radio program, the band will be on the next edition of Se7e, the sunday magazine of the daily newspaper: "O Primeiro de Janeiro".

06-07-99 Radio interview tomorrow

Tomorrow, Lads will be on Radio Universitária de Coimbra, for an interview. The interviewer is Nuno Ávila, in a famous program "Santos da Casa". Don't miss it. It's about 18h30.

16-06-99 All the new five songs available

The new five songs are already available on the Lyrics and songs page. Soon, the usual "after recording" will start, so all the Lads net fans should pay attention to the radios, tv programs and Summer festivals as Lads will perform another Tour. The Lads homepage believes one of the gigs will be held at Vale de Cambra, but everything is in the begining... You can buy the new record in the discography page.

13-05-99 "Better Left Unsaid" is already recorded...

Finally, the new work is recorded... the five new songs are ready to be released. The cover art is being finished and it is said that it has a "not so well known" Edward Hopper painting: "The Boy and the Moon". The Lads homepage is desperatly waiting for the released in order to provide the net fans the real audio versions of the new delicious "songs". Comments were done about the recordings but...it's better left unsaid...

12-04-99 "Farfisa" and "Last night of the fair" already available in real audio format.

As promised the two songs that are part of the home studio recording done by Lads are already available online. The album will be available soon for collectors... and tomorrow Lads will start recording what will be their next release the album "Better Left Unsaid".

09-04-99 "Riesenrad" already done!!!!

Lads have finished recording one of their new releases. This one was recorded on their privat home studio and is called "Riesenrad". The inspiration came from the famous Prater in Wien as the front cover is an enormous picture of the "big wheel". The single includes two original songs: "Farfisa" and "Last night of the fair". The single will be available on the internet soon, probably next week, as well as the real audio samples. Just check the discography and the Lyrics page during next week. Meanwhile next Tuesday Lads will start recording their new EP at the Euterpe Studios. This recording is clearly very different from "Riesenrad". It will be a classic Lads work.

02-04-99 Recording...

Lads are recording new songs to be released in the last week of April. A part of the recording is being done at their home studio and is basically very electronic and consisting mainly on Keyboards. The songs are: "The Last Night of the Fair" and "Farfisa". The other recording is being done at Euterpe studios, this one a true classic Lads work. The songs chosen are : "Attic", "Too many seconds", "Melatonine", "This is the Life" and "Somethings are better left unsaid". Great news as we are about to listen to their new albums. They will be named as: "Wiener Riesenrad" and "Better Left Unsaid" (not 100% sure...).

17-03-99 Musicnet top11

Lads are part of the Top11 Musicnet in Demo tapes. This info was part of the Musicnet 16-03-99 edition where the band was rated as one of the best eleven demo tapes of 1998. Congrats!!!

14-03-99 The last ? The best?

A great concert is the least you can say about the last gig of the Lads Winter Tour. All songs were powerful but, obviously, "Melatonine" was the biggest attraction yesterday night. The pictures are already available. Lads will be recording a new demo tape during Spring but some gigs will be held. Just follow the news...

09-03-99 Take part on the Lads Mailing List

A Lads mailing list is ready and in action!!! It has more than 100 addresses and is created in order to bring Lads info to every interested home. If you want to be part of it just mail us giving your personal e-mail.
The songs: "Farfisa" and "Last night of the fair" will soon be available on this Lads site, probably next week.
See you next Saturday in Lazuli Bar in Leça (Portugal), where Lads will perform, and it is said that a new beautiful song is included in the playlist: "Melatonine".

19-02-99 Next concert ... Lazuli.

It's settled: the next gig of the Lads Winter Tour is to be held in Lazuli bar, a nice concert house in Leça. The winter tour will be paused during a month so the band can solve some problems, but we can assure you the Tour is to continue during next Spring.

14-02-99 Another brilliant performance...

Yesterday, another great Lads performance... The audience was funny and quite peculiar and the guys played very well.
The Lads Homepage loved: "Light house", in spite of the lyrics change...uh uh... oh and "Sunflower" was also fantastic, especially the part when a poem was recited during the guitar solo. A poem by E.E. Cummings: "Somewhere I have never travelled". Tonight there will be an interview on Radio Ateneu, program :"Rockluso", about the award winning... Listen to it at about eleven o'clock. You can listen to it in Lisbon area on the 88.2FM.

11-02-99 Rockluso award for best demo tape of the year 98.

Lads have won the award for the best demo tape of the year 98. A prestigious award of one of the best radio shows in Portugal, particularly in revealing new Portuguese bands. Other bands that are on the award list are : Silence 4 and Zen.

07-02-99 More gigs and a radio show...

Another concert was included on the Lads winter tour, it will be on the 13th of March in Leça da Palmeira on a popular concert house: "Lazuli bar". This is not fully certain, but it seems things will be settled this way.
There will be also a radio show, next Sunday night, in 92.2Fm Rádio Felgueiras in a portuguese radio program called: "Eter Lusitano". It includes an interview and lots of songs by Lads. Don´t miss it!

01-02-99 Great concert last Saturday

The Lads concert, last Saturday, was great. They played a lot of old songs as well as some new ones. It was quite long and had a short break inbetween. Great start for this Winter Tour! Swansong and Last Winter were particularly good.

21-01-99 Waiting... is already out!

ProMúsica, a famous Portuguese magazine, released the track "Waiting". On the first pages of the magazine there is a brief story of the band and some nice remarks, as well as a photo. Meanwhile the band is preparing the Winter Tour.

07-01-99 More news about the Tour

The city of Barcelos will be one of the Portuguese places that is included on the Lads winter tour.The gig will be held in the most famous pub of this old portuguese town. The event will take place in "Acontece Bar" on Saturday the 13th of February, a forthnight after the one in Esposende(Saturday the 30th of January).

30-12-98 Winter tour

There will be a winter Tour by Lads. It's starting the 30th of January in KASTRU'S ,a popular bar in the North of Portugal (Esposende). There is also the possibility of a TV show and a return to Hard Club in Gaia(Portugal). Let's wait and see... And don't forget...The track Waiting is on the next month edition of PróMúsica as well as a photo and a brief story of the band!

Finally on the 15th October Bruno was born. We know his favourite Lads song is "Blue Blue Blue" a new one to be played in the next gig. He will be there too!!!!!!!!

Lads are returning to the stereolab , after the Summer festivals, where they have played among some other famous internacional bands like Tindersticks , Divine Comedy ,Red House Painters , Senser or Clawfinger in "Festival Paredes de Coura" or in "Festival Internacional Jovem Praias 98".
